Good Company!!!

Today started as a dreary day. No sunshine just clouds and mist but it ended with sunshine and good company. After cleaning the house and enjoying some play time with Brody, Grandma came to visit. It was nice having her out and getting to visit. We looked at pictures and learned a little more about each other. While we were busy visiting, Brody was outside playing in the mud. Aunt D would be proud!!! Contrary to belief, Brody is the one who does not like to have dirt, mud or water on him for any amount of time. I think he changed clothes twice. Bill finally watered him down with the water hose. Grandma enjoyed watching Brody ride his trike and play in the mud. She said he acted just like his daddy did at that age. We enjoyed a meal of grilled pork loin, baked potatoes and stewed squash. We ended with a fudgy brownie (2 points) and ice cream.

Thanks Grandma for coming over, we had fun!!

Another Wonderful Day!!!

What a wonderful day!!!! Today was the follow-up visit with Brody's allergy doctor. It went great. He has taken Brody off of the breathing treatments for now!!! YEAH!!!!! He said we will never know if he needs them unless we stop them. We just need to watch him very close in case he starts having some trouble. We go back in 3 months for another follow-up. I was so nervous about this change but it has been for the best. A doctor's visit that normally took me a half of day was down to 1 hour today. I left work at 8:30 and was back at work by 9:30.
We have been enjoying the beautiful weather with walks when we get home, grilling and feeding the catfish. We will have great fishing when you come back Aunt Vonda and Uncle Edgar.
Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Happy Easter 2008!

What a wonderful Easter!!! It was spent with a day full of fun and with the ones we love. (A couple were missing and several we did not get to see.) We started the day with a wonderful Easter Brunch. Then off to the York's we went. We enjoyed getting to see everone again. The kids decorated Easter eggs thanks to Aunt D. She always remembers. Then after hiding numerous eggs the kids were off. They enjoyed finding the eggs and looking for the famous Golden Egg. Thanks to Nana, Brody wound up with the prize. Thank you Rita and Johnny Allen. We have so much chocolate in our house right now I am going to have trouble staying on my diet. Thanks to Tammy, we had our WW friendly dessert. It was yummy. The kids enjoyed playing outside in the beautiful weather (thank you Conley for NO RAIN!!!). It was a little windy and chilly but nothing a jacket could not handle!!! It was a wonderful weekend and a great Easter!!!

Hunting with my friends

Saturday was filled with lots of fun. Brody, Nana and mommy headed to Salado to Brody's friend Caleb's house for an egg hunt with my friends. They rented a bounce house for all of the kids and they really enjoyed that. The Easter Bunny even showed up and passed out eggs. The life size bunny was not Brody's favorite thing. He did not even want his picture made and he usually hams it up for the camera. We finally covinced him to have a picture made with Nana. After the Easter Bunny arrived the kids hunted for eggs. (Angel, Caleb's mother, said she filled over 400 eggs!!!) Brody had lots of fun. 2 down 1 to go!!!

The First Egg Hunt!!!

Today Brody had his first of three Easter Egg Hunts. He hunted with his friends at school and did they ever have fun. They started with a party at 9:00 and had to wait until 10:30 for the egg hunt. They were so excited they could not stay in their chairs. It was a little chilly outside this morning so they had to hunt in the gym. They walked in the gym and saw eggs everywhere. They had to sit on the floor and wait for the teachers to say "GO!!" That was hard for 3 year olds. Off they went to find their eggs. We will have our second hunt on Saturday at one of Brody's little friends house. The mom has told me she has filled over 400 eggs. That will be fun.

Brody is with Nana and Papaw for the night. Bill and I both have to work tomorrow. It sure is quiet in this house when he is gone.

Hope everyone has a Happy Easter!!!

Oh those amazing songs!!!

Many years ago when Vonda and I were younger (probably about 15 - 18 years ago) we would spend a couple of weeks during the summer with our cousins, Debby, Stacy, Kelly and their parents, Rita and Johnny Allen. We would have so much fun those 2 weeks. We would have themed dinners, we learned to bargain shop and the oh so many parenting lessons I learned from Rita.

Just a couple of examples, soon after Kelly was born, we were visiting and it was her bedtime. Kelly woke up and started crying, we were the first on the scene to find the paci. I was an amateur, I turned on the light because I could not find that small thing. I am not for sure how Rita knew I turned the light on because she was in the kitchen and were down the hall around the corner but she did. (Moms have eyes and ears everywhere.) Soon after that I learned how to feel around in the dark. That lesson came in very handy when Brody was young and I was feeling around for a paci at 2:00 a.m. Next was on the many trips to Fort Worth to go shopping (at Target, of course) and to the zoo. It never failed that Debby and Stacy would get into sometime of disagreement. Vonda was usually sitting between them but Rita's arm, my gosh how it grew, she could reach both of them with one sweep. I always thought to myself, how does she do that. Well, I learned. Now my arm can reach all the way across the back seat while driving. You can do amazing things when you are a mom.

Debby and Kelly were great singers also. They could make up songs about nothing and everything, especially Gan. Their Gan was always better than our Gan, or so they thought. I would think, those are some crazy girls. Now when I am driving down the road, I am listening to some great music. Some of it I understand but most I do not. Brody is quiet the little showman. He puts on lots of shows for us in the living room, dancing and singing.

Thanks to all the York's for the many parenting lessons I learned. They have come in handy.

Visit with Uniqua

Well, it all started around 9:45 a.m. Saturday morning. Off to the mall we went to meet the Little's and visit with Uniqua from the Backyardigans. Uniqua was to arrive around 11:00 a.m. Bill could not understand why we would possibly get to the mall that early. It didn't take long to figure out, there were children everywhere. We were about some of the first to get to visit Uniqua. Brody and Bryan were so excited. Brody walked right up, not for sure what to do and Bryan, well, he just kept on walking. He wanted NO part of that. I was able to get a picture of Bryan with his dad. Brody had his picture made and off we went. We all went for a bite to eat, walked the mall and walked by the Easter bunny. We did not stop to visit the Easter bunny, we thought 2 big life size animals in one day might be too much for the boys. They wavied and kept on walking. We walked past Uniqua again and the line was probably a mile long. (That might be a little too long but you get the picture.)

After that, the Little's came to the house and we enjoyed a day of playing and visiting. It was along day but a fun one.

Oh the things we will do for our children...

It Must Be Spring in Texas

This morning, around 3:30 a.m., we had our first (and probably only) snowfall of the year!! We received about 2 inches at our house. Brody was so excited when he got up and saw the snow. He wanted to go outside and play. I got him bundled up and out the door we went. As soon as we got outside, he wanted back in. I was able to get a couple of pictures though. Of course, it melted as soon as the sun came out. On the way home, Brody kept asking, "Where is the snow?" He can not understand that it does melt.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. We are off to the mall tomorrow with Brody's best bud to see the Easter Bunny and Uniqua from the Backyardigans. I am sure I will have lots of pictures.
