Santa has arrived!!!

Friday night, Santa arrived at the mall in Waco. We were not able to take Brody last year so I made sure we went this year. He is very excited about Christmas and could not wait to see Santa. There were hundreds of kids so we told him we would come back when it wasn't so crowded and he could visit with him.

Mommy and her sweet big boy!!!
Waiting and waiting!!!
I think I see him....
Daddy, put me on your shoulders so I can see!!!!
Santa is finally here!!!!

My Transformer

Things have been pretty busy around here so I have fallen behind on posting much. So I thought I would post just a couple of pictures from Halloween. Brody went as Bumblebee again this year. If you remember Halloween from last year, this is the same costume. Thanks to Nana for getting an extra big size last year, he was able to wear it again. And he wanted to wear it again. This was his first year to go door-to-door trick or treating and he really enjoyed it. We went with some great friends so Brody had some other kids to go with.

The kids getting ready to hit the streets.

Look at all my candy mom!!!! He even got a giant twix!!!

How could you say no to that face????

Mom, I can walk myself!!!!

As most of you know, Brody started a new daycare today. This was a very hard and stressful decision for us to make but in the end we know we have made the right decision. I do believe I am taking this move much harder than Brody. He has always adapted well with change and this is no exception. He does has two friends from t-ball at the new place so it was an easy transition.

This is how the morning drop off went this morning.

We pull into Mrs. Marla's driveway and I stop the car. As I start to open my door, Brody informs me he can walk to the door himself. I do not have to walk him. Well, yes I do. He tells me, "Well, momma, Cade's mom lets him walk to the door." (The door is only about 15 feet from the driveway and she has a 2 week old with her so it is easier to let him walk to the door). I tell him, no, mommy will walk you to the door. Then we get in and he does not want to give me a kiss goodbye!!!

I knew this day would come but I thought it would still be a couple of years!!! How they grow up!!!

Tonight Brody performed in the Muttin Bustin and he won 1ST PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bill and I are so excited we cannot even put it in words. Brody scored a 90 and rode over halfway down the arena.

It was not all fun and games. He did his usual crying but he cowboyed up and did great!!!! He will ride again on Saturday, October 17th in the finals!!!

Brody: MOM, where are my shoes?

Me: I do not know, I didn't wear them last.

Brody: Mom, duh, they are too little for you.

Brody: Hello, mom, on my feet!!

Pictures from Vacation!!!

Vacation

Ok, so I have been really horrible lately about updating our blog. We have just been so busy lately. Our vacation was wonderful. On Sunday, we went to Fiesta Texas and had a blast!!! It was very hot but overly crowded so that was nice. No long lines, everything moved very smoothly. Brody did great for his firs trip to an amusement park. He loved the Swing & the pool balls.

On Monday, we walked the river walk, went to a 3-D movie, toured the Alamo & went to the market. It was a nice relaxing day.

We headed home on Tuesday. We decided to stay the night in Gateville because we just weren't ready to come home. It was nice to just hang out with mom & dad.

On Wednesday we came home and got caught up around the house. We decided we were going to head out again on Thursday morning. We got up Thursday, packed the car and headed to the Hill Country. This is our favorite place to go and relax. This was the first time we had taken Brody and he had lots of fun. Bill told Brody this is mom's vacation time. We hit every winery around and really enjoyed ourselves.

We came home on Saturday to catch up on laundry and get ready to go back to work.

We had a great vacation and I was very thankful that I was able to take an entire week off!!! Now we can not wait until vacation next year!!!

Isn't he cute!!!

Our Vacation

We had a great vacation this year. Nana and papaw joined us and we were so happy they accepted Brody's invite. We left Friday night and decided to stay in Austin. We got up early Saturday morning and headed to San Antonio. At this point, I think Brody finally believed all of us that we were on vacation.
We arrived in San Antonio fairly early and our room was not ready yet but they let us go ahead and park and unload the car. Brody wanted his first stop to be the Hall of Horns (The Buckhorn Museum). He loves this place for some reason. We walked around for a couple of hours then headed down the river walk to find the Rain Forest Cafe. This was the first time I had ever been and it was lots of fun. Brody was a little scared at first but soon realized everything was "just pretend". We went back to the hotel for Happy Hour and then went for a swim in the pool. We called it a night around 10:00 to get ready for the next day!!!

We are on VACATION!!!!!

Well, today marked the first day of our vacation. Bill, Brody, nana, papaw, and I are headed to San Antonio for 4 - 5 days!!!! We headed out around 6:00 this afternoon and have stopped in Austin for the night. Brody is so excited he is bouncing off the walls. He thought we were just driving around until we got our suitcases out of the back of the car!!!!

We will head to San Antonio tomorrow morning. We have lots of plans I just do not know how we are going to fit it all in. Sunday we are going to Fiesta Texas.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and I will try to post a couple of pictures if I can find the time.

Where does he come up with this stuff???

So we are eating dinner tonight discussing our upcoming vacation to San Antonio and Six Flags. Bill is asking Brody what rides he wants to ride and so on. Brody has this to say?

Well, you know mom and dad that back in the 80's they had a vacuum cleaner ride that would suck your hair off.

Where in the world does he come up with this stuff - back in the 80's???????

I am also trying to teach him the value of a dollar, ok, maybe a 4 year old doesn't understand the total concept but I am trying. I usually stop and get him a treat after school but this week I told him mommy didn't have any money because we were saving for vacation. I told him the money that we would normally spend we will put in an envelope and he can use that on vacation for whatever he wants. He thought that was an OK idea but he really wants his ICEE. So, this is what he came up with:

OK mom, if you don't have the money I bet Nana and Papaw will. They always have money. Problem solved, now can I have my ICEE????

I have not given in this week and the change is going in an envelope for vacation.

Where has the summer gone????

Where has the summer gone. It seems like just yesterday we were starting t-ball practice, having opening day and all the games. T-ball was super fun and lots of work this year. Bill and I decided when we signed Brody up we were going to just sit back and watch from the sidelines this year - next year we would get a little more involved. That did not work out so well. Bill was recruited as a coach and I became team mom. We stayed so busy. We had practice at least 2 or 3 times a week before the season started. Once games started, we had 2 and sometimes 4 games a week, practice, concession stand and board meetings. During this time we still had to work and keep up with the house. Of course, Bill was busy with other things that have been going on.

T-ball now is not how I remember t-ball. From what I remember, all you brought to a game was your glove and yourself. Everything else was furnished. Not now, we all had bat bags, a couple of bats and balls and all the kids had matching uniforms - shirts, belt, hat, pants and socks (at our own expense). It is very expensive to play t-ball. I can not even imagine what we still have to look forward to.....

Our kids did great this year. Brody could care less about playing in the field, he just wants to bat. He does have a good arm on him but his base running needs LOTS of practice. He would jog to the bases not run. He is a switch hitter but does do better with his left swing but he throws right handed.

At the end of the season we volunteered to have the party at our house. What were we thinking??????? Actually the kids had a great time and so did the adults. We set up a couple of swimming pools and that kept them busy all afternoon.

We were sad that the season was over but relieved that we could actually stay at home and enjoy a nice relaxing evening!!!!

What a Day!!!

What a week and weekend. Monday we started with a practice/scrimmage for T-ball. Wednesday, our family and the Lynch family (Brody's coach) went to a BU softball game. We had so much fun. The boys really enjoyed themselves. Friday Bill had inventory so Nana and Papaw joined Brody and I for the BU baseball game. It was us and the Lynch family again. We really do have lots of fun with them. After we got home, me and Nana started baking for the cake walk on Saturday. We finally finished around 1:00 a.m.

The festivities started Saturday around 8:30. We first started with the opening ceremonies, they announced that Brody won 3rd place and $35 in the candy sales, then they announced all the teams (t-ball, softball and baseball). After that we enjoyed the cake walk, Brody won cupcakes, the ring toss, snow cones, and lots of other fun things. We had pictures at noon. We decided to go home and rest for a little while before the game. We were back at the ball park by 2:30 for the game.

(Brody being recognized for his candy sales!)

What a game. We played a team out of McGregor that was 5 & 6 year olds. They had all played at least 2 years. Our kids did really well for most of them being at the ball park all day, they were exhausted. Even though they really do not keep score we lost 14 - 9. Not too bad for our first game out.

Brody had a great cheering section. He had Nana, Papaw, Brenton, Jenna, Ryan and Melody. Thank you Jenna, Brenton, Ryan and Melody for coming out and cheering Brody on. He was so excited to see you. Brenton took lots of pictures for me and I can't wait to see them. Again, thank you guys for coming out, it meants lots to me and Bill also!!!

We got home around 5:30 and were exhausted. We had a great day and can not wait for more days like this.

Also, thank you Nana and Papaw for coming over for the weekend and helping us!! We had a great time!!
We are ready for our next game Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

Monday, April 20, 2009

This week starts the first of many busy weeks for T-ball. Tonight started as practice but we finished the night with a scrimmage. I must say our team did great. We have had 3 scrimmages in all and have won 2. Wednesday night we are going to the BU softball game and Friday we go to the BU baseball game. We are going as a team. Should be fun with a bunch of 3 & 4 year olds. Saturday is opening day for the season. We have to be there at 8:30 for opening ceremonies, noon for pictures, our game is at 3:00 p.m. (we have to be there at 2:30). During this, we have to help work the concession stand, work the carnival and help with what ever else needs helping. We are also supposed to bring something for the cake walk to be held on Saturday. So of course, my first call was to Nana - can you please bake a cake. Of course, she said yes.

Big news is Brody got 3rd place in candy sales. He will be recognized Saturday during the opening. Thanks to everyone who purchased candy. We still have candy left if any one is interested.

Bill and I set back and wonder, what did we do before Brody was born? We must have led a very boring life.

Brody sure hopes some of his fans will come out and support his team on Saturday!!!

Mutton Bustin' Again

My little cowboy rides again this Saturday. There is a Western Heritage Festival in Waco this weekend and Mutton Bustin' is one of the events. Brody rides Saturday at 3:30. If he places in the top 6 (out of 30) he will come back and ride on Sunday for the championship.

He is excited because the arena is not as big as before. He said before it frightened him because the place was so big. We will see if that is going to help at all.

Wish us luck!!!

That Is What I Get...

Saturday we took Brody to get his hair cut at Gary's. Shana came open so Brody hopped into her chair and of course we start talking. She mentions that her toe was hurting because she broke it the night before. I asked her how did that happen and she starts laughing. She said she was cooking dinner and was getting a couple of things out of the freezer (frozen peas, frozen dinner rolls) and one of the dinner rolls hit her toe just right and broke it. I started laughing but didn't mean to. I have broke my toe a couple of times and it hurts like crazy. I told her I was sorry and she understood how funny it sounded. So Sunday I open up our fridge to get the milk out for Brody and his Big Red bottle from the night before falls and lands right on my toe. It didn't break but it is black and blue and my toe nail will probably fall off.

I am going to try to remember not to laugh at things like that because they will happen to me in the near future!!!

T-Ball Pictures

My handsome little boy!!

His first time at batting (Coach Brad)

Dancing a jig!!

I like the look of that mud!!

Which Way Do We Go????

Tonight was our first night of t-ball practice and it was the most hilarious thing I have ever seen. We have 3 or 4 boys under 4 and it shows. They were the funniest to watch. Then we have about 4 or 5 who have played before and that shows. Then, you have those of us in between. They kinda know what is going on but have an attention span of about 15 minutes.

Brody did pretty good for his first organized sport. He doesn't quiet have the concept of paying attention to the ball but they tell us to be patient, it shall come. He still hasn't decided if he wants to throw and catch left or right handed yet. So we do have to work on that. He did great at batting but ran between first and second base but eventually made it to first and then on to home in the right order. He does listen to his coaches very well. Much better than listening to us.

He did want to watch the cars go down the road, kick the dirt and dance around. Overall he did very well. We are very proud of him and can't wait for the next practice. Our first game will be on April 25, not for sure of the time yet.

After practice we had a meeting for the parents. Boy, we have our work cut out for us. Saturday we have a work day starting at 8:00 a.m. to get the fields cleaned, fields in order and a cover over the dug outs. Practice again on Monday (that is our normal practice day) and then again on Thursday. Sometime in between this we have somehow gotten ourselves into a casino night fundraiser. Meeting dates to be determined. We all must work the concession stand several times during the year and who knows what else. I do believe we are going to be busy but will be loving every minute of it.

Pictures will follow in a later post.

Momma, he said a bad word...

Ok, so I know this story will not be near as funny as when Brody told it to me but just image Brody and his dramatics while reading.

We were headed home Monday after school and Brody tells me he has something he needs to tell me. He sounds very serious and upset. Of course, I believe the worse that he must have gotten into some trouble at school. So, I move my rear view mirror so I can see him and he starts:

Brody: Momma, Weston said a bad word today at school.

Me: Really, what did he say (for those of you who do not know, Weston and Brody teach the class a wonderful vocabulary. His mother and I compare notes a couple of times a week to see who has the most interesting words. Brody has some interesting words.)

Brody: Momma, I just can't tell you. (he has his head down and is shaking it like it is horrible)

Me: Now Brody, it could not have been that bad, just tell mommy what he said.

Brody: Well momma, Stone said it first (another friend in his class with some behavioral issues.) and Weston said it too.

Me: Brody, tell mommy what they said. You will not get in trouble just tell me this once.

Brody: Momma, I just can't. It was a bad word. (I am thinking to myself, this must be terrible. Brody is really upset. I can tell he wants to tell me but is scared he is going to get in trouble.)

Me: Brody, just tell mommy.

Brody: Well, it is not as bad of words as you and daddy say. (I almost lost it)

Me: Really...

Brody: Ok momma, (he is still looking down and shaking his head) he said SHUT UP!!!!

Of course, I just wanted to laught but I continued and was just as dramatic. I told him that was a bad word and we do not say that.

If only shut up was the worst thing Brody had said I would be happy.

Chocolate - For Sale!!!

Saturday was a big day for Brody... He signed up for T-BALL!!!!! He seems excited but doesn't really have any idea about practice and games. It should be a hoot. After I paid the necessary fee to play, the lady said, "Don't forget your box of chocolates." So, now I am going to be one of those people at work begging you to buy my chocolate.

Give Brody a call if you want to help him win a prize!!!

Just A Couple Of New Pics

I know I have not posted in a long time but we have been very busy. I am doing good to keep my head above the water lately. I just wanted to post a couple of new pictures for Aunt Vonda. I hope you enjoy...
