What a Day!!!

What a week and weekend. Monday we started with a practice/scrimmage for T-ball. Wednesday, our family and the Lynch family (Brody's coach) went to a BU softball game. We had so much fun. The boys really enjoyed themselves. Friday Bill had inventory so Nana and Papaw joined Brody and I for the BU baseball game. It was us and the Lynch family again. We really do have lots of fun with them. After we got home, me and Nana started baking for the cake walk on Saturday. We finally finished around 1:00 a.m.

The festivities started Saturday around 8:30. We first started with the opening ceremonies, they announced that Brody won 3rd place and $35 in the candy sales, then they announced all the teams (t-ball, softball and baseball). After that we enjoyed the cake walk, Brody won cupcakes, the ring toss, snow cones, and lots of other fun things. We had pictures at noon. We decided to go home and rest for a little while before the game. We were back at the ball park by 2:30 for the game.

(Brody being recognized for his candy sales!)

What a game. We played a team out of McGregor that was 5 & 6 year olds. They had all played at least 2 years. Our kids did really well for most of them being at the ball park all day, they were exhausted. Even though they really do not keep score we lost 14 - 9. Not too bad for our first game out.

Brody had a great cheering section. He had Nana, Papaw, Brenton, Jenna, Ryan and Melody. Thank you Jenna, Brenton, Ryan and Melody for coming out and cheering Brody on. He was so excited to see you. Brenton took lots of pictures for me and I can't wait to see them. Again, thank you guys for coming out, it meants lots to me and Bill also!!!

We got home around 5:30 and were exhausted. We had a great day and can not wait for more days like this.

Also, thank you Nana and Papaw for coming over for the weekend and helping us!! We had a great time!!
We are ready for our next game Monday, Thursday and Saturday.

This week starts the first of many busy weeks for T-ball. Tonight started as practice but we finished the night with a scrimmage. I must say our team did great. We have had 3 scrimmages in all and have won 2. Wednesday night we are going to the BU softball game and Friday we go to the BU baseball game. We are going as a team. Should be fun with a bunch of 3 & 4 year olds. Saturday is opening day for the season. We have to be there at 8:30 for opening ceremonies, noon for pictures, our game is at 3:00 p.m. (we have to be there at 2:30). During this, we have to help work the concession stand, work the carnival and help with what ever else needs helping. We are also supposed to bring something for the cake walk to be held on Saturday. So of course, my first call was to Nana - can you please bake a cake. Of course, she said yes.

Big news is Brody got 3rd place in candy sales. He will be recognized Saturday during the opening. Thanks to everyone who purchased candy. We still have candy left if any one is interested.

Bill and I set back and wonder, what did we do before Brody was born? We must have led a very boring life.

Brody sure hopes some of his fans will come out and support his team on Saturday!!!

Mutton Bustin' Again

My little cowboy rides again this Saturday. There is a Western Heritage Festival in Waco this weekend and Mutton Bustin' is one of the events. Brody rides Saturday at 3:30. If he places in the top 6 (out of 30) he will come back and ride on Sunday for the championship.

He is excited because the arena is not as big as before. He said before it frightened him because the place was so big. We will see if that is going to help at all.

Wish us luck!!!

That Is What I Get...

Saturday we took Brody to get his hair cut at Gary's. Shana came open so Brody hopped into her chair and of course we start talking. She mentions that her toe was hurting because she broke it the night before. I asked her how did that happen and she starts laughing. She said she was cooking dinner and was getting a couple of things out of the freezer (frozen peas, frozen dinner rolls) and one of the dinner rolls hit her toe just right and broke it. I started laughing but didn't mean to. I have broke my toe a couple of times and it hurts like crazy. I told her I was sorry and she understood how funny it sounded. So Sunday I open up our fridge to get the milk out for Brody and his Big Red bottle from the night before falls and lands right on my toe. It didn't break but it is black and blue and my toe nail will probably fall off.

I am going to try to remember not to laugh at things like that because they will happen to me in the near future!!!

T-Ball Pictures

Dancing a jig!!

I like the look of that mud!!

Which Way Do We Go????

Tonight was our first night of t-ball practice and it was the most hilarious thing I have ever seen. We have 3 or 4 boys under 4 and it shows. They were the funniest to watch. Then we have about 4 or 5 who have played before and that shows. Then, you have those of us in between. They kinda know what is going on but have an attention span of about 15 minutes.

Brody did pretty good for his first organized sport. He doesn't quiet have the concept of paying attention to the ball but they tell us to be patient, it shall come. He still hasn't decided if he wants to throw and catch left or right handed yet. So we do have to work on that. He did great at batting but ran between first and second base but eventually made it to first and then on to home in the right order. He does listen to his coaches very well. Much better than listening to us.

He did want to watch the cars go down the road, kick the dirt and dance around. Overall he did very well. We are very proud of him and can't wait for the next practice. Our first game will be on April 25, not for sure of the time yet.

After practice we had a meeting for the parents. Boy, we have our work cut out for us. Saturday we have a work day starting at 8:00 a.m. to get the fields cleaned, fields in order and a cover over the dug outs. Practice again on Monday (that is our normal practice day) and then again on Thursday. Sometime in between this we have somehow gotten ourselves into a casino night fundraiser. Meeting dates to be determined. We all must work the concession stand several times during the year and who knows what else. I do believe we are going to be busy but will be loving every minute of it.

Pictures will follow in a later post.
