A Day With a 3 Year Old

Some days you just want to be over. That was our day yesterday. Brody is a very strong willed little boy. When he wants something, he will not quit until he gets it. I will try to make this long story short.
Our day begins at 3:30 a.m. That is when the wonderful alarm clock welcomes us to a new day. Anyone who knows me knows I am not a big morning person. Bill gets up and is out of the house around 4:15 a.m. I am out of bed around 5:00 a.m. A little time to myself before the day begins with a 3 year old. I get munchkin up around 6:30 (or at least I try). He is usually up around 6:45. Brody is not just an angel at this time of the morning either. We have our routine (he likes the routine) and if we deviate from that at all, the morning is a disaster. Well.....that was yesterday morning. He did not want to get up, get dressed, eat breakfast or go to school. What a way to start the day, with a screaming child. Anyway, we get to school and I get to work. Finally, a time to rest.
It is now 5:00 p.m., time to pick up Brody. I sure hope the evening goes great. Was I wrong. We get home, he wants cookies, I want to watch a movie, color with me, NOW!!! I get dinner ready, no dinner for Brody or at least that is what he thinks. It was a battle from the get go. He now enjoys head butting me in the stomach, he hit his head on the table (not hard), he fell to the floor and starting screaming. You would have thought we just beat him. He finally got in his chair after about 5 minutes of screaming. He then decides he is not going to eat, the potatoes are sticky, the spaghetti is yucky, I don't like you mommy. I told him, well I love you. Then he proceeds to tell me he wants me to leave, I don't like you mommy. He wanted croutons and I would not let him have any until he ate dinner. (I wonder if he dreamed about that Aunt Bonda?). He then tells me he wants me to leave again. I put on my shoes and grabbed my purse and out the door I went. He screamed and begged me to come back. Bill was explaining to him what he had done wrong. After about 5 to 10 minutes (I was getting cold), I came back in. He was sobbing so hard. He said he was sorry and he wanted to give me a hug. He finally ate dinner. We did explain to him he was not going to be able to watch any of his movies. He understands he is in trouble when there are no movies. Off to the shower he went. Finally to bed.
I finished the dishes and picked up the house. It is now 10:30 and off to bed I go. Please let tommorow be a better day...
